Trendsetter: Vintage Inspired Frames and The Song To Watch

From the man who introduced you to aussieBum, Havaianas, way before anyone in this part of the world was even aware of them. This is the very same guy who started NewUrbanMale.com, and found the vision to run a company as hip and cool as the brand itself. The designer behind not less than 300 cool NUMtees, with taglines equal the attitude the man possess. Not forgetting the unique Party Tank Tops he designed that are now sweeping the whole sunny island, especially on Sundays.

Mr. Shenzi Chua, the Founder and Director of NUM has agreed to run a weekly column here to share about what is the trend to come and to watch out for. Not pertaining just to fashion alone, it could be music, movie, people, even places ......

"I was in Taiwan, taking my time off work a few months ago, roaming the street, and realised that something was very different. Probably it's the people, could be the place itself, but i would have to say it lies very much with the culture and the language. It reminded me a lot about my life in the 80s.

That very trip was taken because I needed inspiration to design the vintage collection that NUM has been approached to launch. I was looking for the feel, the nostalgia. Then I chanced upon a group of people who were hanging around Xi Men Ding. The first thing that caught my attention was the spectacles they were wearing. Vintage inspired frames are making a comeback. They may look nerdy and chunky, but they are returning in a modern-day style. I got mysef a pair that very day, and I'm still wearing it today. In fact, a number of us over here at NUM are already donning these fashionable spectables, and they sure look good.

To show you how good one can look in one of these, I would like to also introduce a great song that I know will definitely create a storm here very soon. Don't just fall for the song, look at the frames the 2 leads are wearing. And don't fall for the male lead. (laugh!). This song will definitely be driving a lot of people crazy. I know.

Mind this distinction guys, tortoiseshell is best for fair-skinned; solid black frames go best with guys who are tanned."
