Let's Get Mischievious with Joseph

If you've seen Youtube.com lately you would have spotted their videos. They are the Mischievious Boys - the lip-synching boy band that has been taking online videos by storm. In their latest video, One Word, the boys have been spotted wearing our NUMtees.

NewUrbanMale.com had the pleasure of interviewing the boys. Just last week, we caught up with the Bad Boy David, while this week, we caught up with the main man behind the Mischievious Boys, the Dancer, Joseph Inovero, 35

Joseph has been in the US since 1985 when he moved there with his mom for better opportunities and a better life. The technical consultant is a very outdoors person - loving volleyball, bowling, dancing and especially hosting parties. Joseph manages the group and is the brains behind the operations and the editing of the Mischiveious Boys videos.

Describe yourself in three words.
For myself – Fa Bu Lous. For the four of us I would say – Lip-Synch Boy Band.

Tell us how you guys got started?
I started making my own music videos (the remix of “Keep It Together” by Madonna) using my family’s home videos as footage back in 1991. Then I made a fashion show music video (“I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred) starring my mom and me. I think it was really in 1998, when I started fiddling with digital video editing and started making lip-synched music videos with my friends and family. But it was only late last year, when I was doing karoke with David, Edward and Tommy that I decided to record us singing, eventually leading us to make our music videos after I showed the rest of the boys what I had created before.

How was the response after you guys released your first video?
I first uploaded our videos on video.google.com and then to Youtube.com. I started getting emails from fans who saw our “Hung Up” music video on google and then our “Hung Up” video got featured in the Daily Top 20 on Youtube.com. The response was so good that I quickly bought mischieviousboys.com and then a few days later, another video of ours, “What a Feeling”, made it to the Daily Top 15. It was great.

You are bound to have many fans. Have you been offered any indecent proposals before?
Nope. No indecent proposals but I am waiting for a decent one though.

You guys are taking this multimedia interactivity to a new level. Is it really that easy to pick up these and is it that easy for anybody videos and put it up on the web?
I am a very technical person. I create web applications and design websites for a living and as a hobby. I have a lot of experience in creating music videos. In addition, I’m also a hobbyist photographer. So it was very easy for me to get where The Mischievious Boys are now.

Quirky Quickie:
When Joseph was in first grade in the Philippines, he was so shy to get up from his seat and tell his teacher that he needed to go to the bathroom, that he just peed in his pants right there.

What’s your favorite clip?
“Try It on My Own” – I love the song, I love Whitney, I love the Thunderpuss Remix, this is The Mischievious Boys Theme Song and it’s the first Mischievious Boys music video I edited that had multi-shots.

Have you guys ever thought of expanding the cast? Instead of just yourselves, how about dancers or celebrity cameo appearances?
I wanted my cat Cosmo to have more appearances in our music videos. And I think it would be cool to have our fans appear in our music videos too.

How about a “making the video” show like MTV?
I have always wanted to put out a behind-the-scenes and the-making-of our music videos but the other three Mischievious Boys are too embarrassed to have those shown.

Do you guys plan to do any real singing and releasing your own album?
We have done karaoke. I have recorded a few songs using my own voice so I am definitely interested in doing cover songs and using it in our music videos.

Have you guys tried talking to Mattel to make toy figures of yourselves? With gyrating hips and all.
I was only thinking of selling merchandise like calendars, t-shirts, tank tops, postcards, mugs, mouse pads, but I did not think of toy figures at all. That would actually be cool.
