OMGIS Continues This Saturday








NewUrbanMale.com just concluded the first Oh My God It's Saturday (OMGIS). Held every Saturday throughout September, the first OMGIS involved a NewUrbanMale.com Fashion Show.

On parade was the 235guys themselves and their NUMgirlfriends in the latest vintage apparel from NewUrbanMale.com. Even the performers were in NewUrbanMale.com's apparel - Mighty Fine and NewUrbanMale.com's very own low waist vintage washed jeans.

OMGIS is a chill out session held outside the Heeren so shoppers can just relax and listen the best pop tunes live and acoustic. OMGIS happens every Saturday throughout September and don't worry if you missed the fashion show because there'll be another one on Sep 30.

So if you're looking for something to do and somewhere to chill on a Saturday evening, then the Heeren is the place to be meet for OMGIS.

NewUrbanMale.com continues to bring you our classic range of vintage inspired tees all the way from the United States. This week, we give you a good reason why you should eat your greens- and that reason is Popeye.

The brainchild of Elzie Crisler Segar, Popeye first came into the scene in the Thimble Theatre comic strip on January 17, 1929. The character grew so popular that Popeye eventually took over as the main character from Castor Oyl, Olive Oyl's brother. The cartoon version, on the other hand, made his screen debut in Betty Boop Meets Popeye The Sailor in 1933. That appearance proved such a hit and eventually set the stage for all the Popeye cartoon series that were to follow.

Popeye grew popular for several reasons, but he was more fondly remembered for his greens - SPINACH. Spinach farmers and the residents of Crystal City, Texas in the US were so thankful to Popeye for saving their dying spinach industry that they erected a statue just for him. There was another statute erected in Alma, Arkansas in the US, also because of spinach, because it is home to Allen Canning which markets Popeye-branded canned spinach.

Popeye continues to be popular until today, so popular that his fans organize an annual picnic in Popeye’s hometown – Chester Illinois, USA. The 27th Annual Popeye Picnic, a festival of games and carnival rides, will be held on September 8th all the way to September 10th.
