Vintage Inspired Apparel - Gumby Tees

NewUrbanMale.com continues to expand the range of vintage inspired tees that feature a whole host of classic characters like Betty Boop, Strawberry Shortcake, Wonder Woman and Gumby.

One such character is Gumby. He’s green, he’s malleable and he is probably the first ever clay animation in the history of television. Gumby, the clay figure with the odd shaped head, has sizzled the screens since 1957 and lasted over a period of 23 years.

Art Clokey, the creator of Gumby, created the character based on the portrait of his father. In that portrait, Art’s father (below) was spotting a cowlick on the side of his head that could be neither combed nor licked down and Art mentioned that should you superimpose Gumby’s picture onto the portrait, you would get an exact carbon copy.

Art just loved to tell stories and it is through stories that children get the opportunity to use their imagination and dreams. It was with this personal love for telling stories and entertaining children, that he uses as inspiration for the Gumby series.

And Gumby is so hot that he made it all the way to NewUrbanMale.com. The green clay character is this week’s latest Vintage Inspired Tee collection available at NewUrbanMale.com. Catch the flexible, funny sounding Gumby collection at our stores along with other vintage characters like My Little Pony, Wonder Woman and even the lovable Care Bears.
